Blue and red boys room: The reveal of our traditional-but-fun boys

A few months ago I posted about my plans to create a traditionally inspired blue and red boys room for my two sons.You can read more about my design plans for the boys’ room here, but essentially, I wanted to do something colorful and fun, but still a bit traditional.I also used some of the existing furniture and decor that was already in my son’s room.

Gorgeous Shared Rooms for Kids

We’ve already mentioned bunk bed options in previous posts, but for some parents bunk beds are accidents waiting to happen.For others, bunk beds mean that story time and cuddling sessions are more of a gymnastic effort.

Twin beds offer the same advantages as bunk beds, without the risk of injury and the loss of cuddling time.

Bold Tween Boys Bedroom - Darling Darleen

Moving into our new house, I knew I needed to get my boys room in tip top shape sooner than later.What I knew before I began was that I wanted to change up my boys room from our last house, while still using the same furniture and elements.

Since it’s the first bedroom you see at the top of the stairs, I wanted the room to be a bold tween boys bedroom with some fun styling like the plaid wallpaper.

I also wanted the bedroom to have a cleaner and more sophisticated look, so that’s why I went with the bold, dark gray Benjamin Moore paint called Amherst Gray.

The After–An easy refresh to a bedroom is changing out the bedding for a different style and using different throw pillows.

Decorating A Boys Room

A few weeks ago I shared photos of our new apartment and announced that I’m working with the awesome folks at Keep to make our new place a home.I also made mention of one particular room for which there were big plans.So planning a room for his two boys to share?The rugby stripe bedding is a definite (and, in fact, I ordered it this week) as is the Ink + Wit art print, which my friend Tara (the designer behind Ink + Wit) gifted me a few years ago.

Boys Shared Bedroom Makeover

It’s been nearly two years since we moved into our house and we’ve almost completed William’s room!I love the French blue of the bedding, the monogram pillows and blankets, and the pop of orange on the pillows and lamp.

We change the books frequently and he loves looking up to see what books are there to read at nap time and bed time.Kid-size armchairs are at the foot of each bed and they make the perfect place to snuggle in and read.

We thought that the boys would be sharing a room, so we did two twin beds, but Henry really likes to sleep in his big bed in his own room.
