Reader submitted photo by BEEKEEPER has some modifications from plansSo excited to add this plan to the Farmhouse Bed Collection!The panels are plywood (although you can still do beadboard paneling or planks for a more country look) and the overall width is 7" narrower than the tradditional Farmhouse Beds.So if you have a compact space, this bed is a great alternative to the Farmhouse Bed.It's smaller and includes six huge HUGE drawers for storage.For drawers to work, you must build perfectly square, and all cuts must be square and straight.

A few months ago we got rid of our guest bedroom set because it was finally falling apart, so I’ve been needing to build a new queen size bed frame.Keep in mind, that you can follow my plans to build this bed and just alter them slightly to have drawers on both sides.

Build this Queen sized platform bed frame with storage drawers.Queen Platform Bed Frame with Storage DrawersMaterials:Use 3/4″ plywood or MDFWood glue1 3/4″wood screws3″ construction screws2×4 lumber for baseStep 1: Build Drawer BoxesBuild 6 identical storage boxes.

Step 4: Head and Foot piecesAdd “head” and “foot” to the bed frame.So adjust the dimensions of your head and foot pieces to fit your actual bed frame.The height of your head and foot pieces should be 1 3/4″ taller than your bed frame.

DIY Full or Queen Size Storage Bed

Check out the DIY Full or Queen Size Storage Bed I built for my little guy!I used my Kreg Jig again to add pocket holes to these boards, but these were 1.5″ pocket holes.I attached most pieces with pocket holes and pocket hole screws, and also used wood glue and Spax screws to attach the side 2×2 pieces.

The sides are built from 1×6 that I attached with 1.25″ pocket hole screws.

Next, I planked the 1x boards into each side using 1.25″ pocket hole screws.

If you’re looking for a more traditional bed, check out my plans for this Queen bed with storage drawers.The entire platform bed will be topped with another piece (or pieces) of material further strengthening the entire platform.If you don’t have an power stapler use #6 3/4″ wood screws, or finish nails to secure the back onto the box.

Now you should have two side boxes for you platform bed frame.Even without drawers you now have a Queen platform bed with storage underneath.

How to Build an Easy DIY Bedroom Storage Chest for Blankets

Unless you ripped the edges at a 45º angle, each vertical trim piece will overlap the adjacent one.Each side cove moulding piece should be flush with the back of the chest using a 90º cut (square cut).Center the continuous hinge on the upper horizontal 1×4 trim piece on the back of the chest.Once the top panel is secure enough, place the entire chest upright again and lean the top panel again a wall.

Don’t forget to finish the storage chest with a little paint, stain, whitewash, distressing or all of the above.
