Front door entry right into kitchen..looking for kitchen layout advice

I Just bought a new home (1950s ranch) that we are totaling gutting and remodeling and adding onto.I am regretting every second because the home just will never be what I want it to be.

We purchased it for the school system, the land, and a shop in the back for my husband.My biggest issue right now is the kitchen & front entry.

We knocked down a wall (on blueprint: the wall between kitchen and dinette) to open things up, make a bigger kitchen, bigger dining room & expanded on the back with a family room addition.

I’ve always wanted a big kitchen for entertaining with stools people can hang at.I’ll include some pictures of the original home blueprint and some kitchen layouts I have now.

We are planning to redo out kitchen layout.It's currently a very small U shaped kitchen with a large eat-in area next to it.I want to make the kitchen much longer by combining the eat-in area and add a big island with seating.The only place I can think to put the door is on the left in the middle of the kitchen which you can see in the renderings below.So my questions is, would an exterior door (that will swing inward) be a horrible idea in anyone else's opinion in this location in the kitchen?

In the picture you see our front door has the kitchen at the left.The wider 36" opening is the future doorway and the narrow 24" one is to be closed with cabinets abutting it in the kitchen.

We are thinking of using a door (likely pocket door) since when you open the front door, almost the entire kitchen can be seen.There is a second entrance to the kitchen toward the center of the house.

We were thinking even a nice frosted glass double pocket door would work.

Any Ideas for Double Front Doors with Large Arched Window?

Our house has a large double front door with an arched glass window.(I haven't decided on window treatments for this room, which has French doors with window on either side.)I'm trying to come up with a window treatment that provides a little privacy without blocking light and completely taking away from the look of the doors.Also, we do use one of the front doors, so the window treatment can't get in the way of function.

The part of the L that will face the family room will have an overhang (planning 15") with (2) stools on the family room side.It's only 5.5" height difference between the family room floor and the kitchen.So my question is how to handle the back side of the peninsula facing the family room.Put a knee wall between the back of cabinets and the family room - make the knee wall come down to the floor in the family room side and have it blend in with the walls in the family room / paint it the same color.

Have the back panel of cabinetry extend down to the family room floor and have finished panels on the side of the peninsula and possibly a leg on each end going into the family room to give more visual interest to the cabinets.
