Our most used bathroom during the summer season was in need of some style.A few nautical touches andFrom our walk out basement french doors lead onto the back patio and the path down to the lake.

It’s the bathroom that gets used when we run in from the lake or the backyard, so it’s often seen by guests.So… #1 spa like space to soak in the tub #2 bathroom to use coming in from the lake #3 guests often use.The nautical knot I found at Hobby Lobby and I pulled in the colors off the paddles with the washcloths and towels.

Lake House Bathroom Renovation

The tricky part was originally we needed to store the hot water tank in this space as well (*reminder the house has only a crawl space and is 800 sq.so we decided to make a sliding panel that would give us access to the hot water tank area.So in the middle of the bathroom renovation we built an outside attached utility room and decided to move the hot water tank and water filtration out there.

We shiplapped the walls and painted them Benjamin Moore Chantiliy Lace (like the rest of the house).Since it’s such a small space and no windows I wanted it as bright and light as possible.

I’m finally sharing our bathroom renovation at the lake house.Lake House Bathroom RenovationWhen we first viewed the lake house, my main concern was the TINY (and ONLY) bathroom it had.And then I discovered the paper-thin peel and stick tiles that stick to existing tiles.

The farmhouse is just steps from Lake Michigan, but its seaside references are subtle and spare.

Vacation homes often get short shrift when it comes to customization, but Thelen chose to create one room specifically for days spent lake- and poolside.

I’m very excited to announce our next BIG DIY project: the complete overhaul of my outdated and worn out 1970’s slash 1980’s bathroom!And with so many unforeseeable delays that comes along with a bathroom remodel, we are cautiously optimistic that all goes well.
