It's Spring Home Improvement time! Get Your Coastal Color Palette
I don’t know if you noticed or not (touch of sarcasm) but I LOVE Coastal Colors.I said it time and time again that I’m from Long Island so every time I design one of these coastal color palettes is brings me right home.This color palette is from a local client I had in the Ballantyne area of NC after seeing an article I wrote for Ballantyne Magazine on page 32.The coastal colors are so beautiful in the home and literally are the perfect color scheme for homes with open floor plans.

An Outdated Bath Gets a Sleek Redesign
New Life for an Outdated BathThe drab guest bath of a Tudor-style home in Winchester gets a classic makeover.The guest-suite bath of a Tudor-style home in Winchester was functional, but outdated and dull.The small wall tiles were colorful, but outdated, and a bulky radiator, located under the window, made adding a shower door a challenge.Wainscoting was installed to replace the wall tiles, and a custom-built cherry vanity with a marble top adds storage while preserving precious floor space.The existing claw-foot tub was replaced with a freestanding tub with nickel fixtures.

The Whole Bathroom FloorAfter prying everything off the old bathroom floor……3 layers of vinyl flooring, a layer of tar paper and one more layer of hardie-board…..We are left with this loveliness….If this were “Rehab Addict”, Nicole Curtis would simple stain this diagonal floor and call it a day…but, Ummm…we have slightly higher standards than that.The distance from this floor to the current bedroom hardwood is just about 1 1/4 inches……We’d like it to be somewhat the same…..Here’s the layers we’ll add:1/4″ Plywood1/2″ Cement Board1/2″ TileStarted with the plywood.Once we add the 1/2″ thick tile we should be up to the same floor height as the bedroom…..Then my brother pointed out that the grout under the tile has a depth……Oh well, mistake number one…at least it’s a small one.
