A purple monkey room.Just as I was settled on telling her no, Jeremy got that little dimple I can’t resist and voted to do a purple room.Here’s another gorgeous purple and blue room with blue walls from Pottery Barn!If I lose on the blue walls, I imagine her room looking more similar to this room, just with some blue accents added in.I mentioned in my Mixed Media Monkey Artwork post that Little Girlie not only wanted a purple room, she wanted a purple monkey room, so I’ve had my eyes peeled for monkey artwork.

Over the past few months I’ve worked my way around the room, adding different elements here and there.As you can see we did go ahead with the bunk beds I asked you all about that she wanted for her ninth birthday.There’s a little bench under the window I found years ago at a thrift store and reupholstered in a lavender geometric.

The panels used to be velvet in her old pink and green room but I replaced them with a lavender geometric print.

On the wall opposite her bunk beds she has a desk that used to be green but I repainted it in an aqua blue color.

To move past these issues, or at least skirt around them, I started by first painting over Tylyn’s pink walls with white paint.I had already set my sights on some upholstered twin headboards.The color scheme was to be pink, purple and blue as those were the requested colors.

And I figured the were the perfect size for twin headboards, so why not use them instead of going and buying heavy plywood.

And finally I added more white to the medium pink to get the lightest pink color.
