I’m chatting stacked laundry units.In our current home, our laundry units live side-by-side… and no- it’s not because of the flack I received for our previous laundry room.

Ok- now that you’re all caught up on that… I can say I’ve lived with both stacked units and side-by-side units for a solid amount of time.Let’s start with stacked units… I really liked having stacked units because of the obvious- they are such a space saver!Who knows… maybe I can be persuaded to install side-by-side units when it comes time to fully renovate our laundry room (but I doubt it, haha).

Is this washer and dryer pull out shelf genius?

I've been planning to raise my washer and dryers as high as possible and install these pull out shelves below each unit.It seemed like a genius idea and I assumed it would be great for my bad back and would reduce my need to bend so much.

It would also catch all the items I inevitably drop on the floor!BUT, it just occurred to me that perhaps I will be bending more to reach over the pull out to load things into the washer and vice versa.

Maybe this is why we never see it?

I have a very small main floor laundry "closet" in my 2012 Ranch (it was a spec house).I really want a utility/laundry sink which we currently do not have.I am wondering if you think it is a good idea to stack the washer and dryer and then plumb a water line for a utility sink on the side?

I haven't even gone so far as to get quotes on what that would cost to do for the plumbing yet...thought I would start with my fine friends at GardenWeb...See photo for set up...Yes it is cramped and not organized :) my thought would be to remove the rack stack the dryer on top of the washer and put the sink to the right of the unit...Thanks in advance for advice and ideas!
