Anyone have windows flanking their range?

I'm fighting to get more natural light in my kitchen.It's not a necessity, and windows will knock out two upper cabs, but it's soooooo pretty, I can't stop looking at it!

Going in circles on range hood

I am trying to settle on a range hood insert, which is the final selection that my custom cab company needs in order to get started.My question really is about the importance of "capture volume" and whether that can be compensated for, by upping the cfms a bit.

Because I cannot find a hood insert with decent capture volume, even from companies whose regular wall hoods seem to have good volume....and then, this is their hood insert offering:...much, much less capture area as the baffles are less angled.He really pushed the Vent-a-hood, saying it was good capture volume, plus quiet and easier to clean - contrary to what I've read on this forum!

Choosing the Right Size for a Wall Sconce

Picking a kitchen sconce whether it be a brass wall sconce or a simple candlelight sconce can be hard.The kitchen wall sconces that I picked five years ago were two of those pieces… I liked them yet they didn’t feel exactly right.I really like the rule of thumb that your wall sconce should be mounted 3/4 of the height of your ceiling height.

So, if you had a 9′ high ceiling, measure for your wall sconce installation to be around 6.5′.

If you are still confused on kitchen sconce sizing, grab some painters tape and tape out the lighting size on your wall.

utensil rail behind stove?

We are thinking of installing a stainless steel utensil rail behind the stove.I think it will look really great and having the utensils up off the counter will be nice.I sent him to Ikea to pick up the second rail and he said none of the example kitchens had them behind the range.Because it's off center (a result of probably our biggest oops in the project), I plan to have the two rails meet in the middle of the stove.So the rail would be hung about 22" above the stove.
