Being such a crucial aspect in any room, windows offer a great opportunity to express your style. For my DIY farmhouse style window treatment, I gathered some free materials from my stash.

I reclaimed this old 2×4 from our scrap wood pile, and these hooks were salvaged from an old building we were helping with. If you don’t have a scrap wood pile to forage from, I would recommend purchasing a 1×4 pine board in the length you need.

If you’re a beach lover, a piece of drift wood could make an amazing statement. After spray painting my hooks black, I screwed them down the center of my board at even intervals.

Make sure to cut your wood wider than your window to increase its appearance and visual statement. I decided to whip up some quick curtain tie backs with materials I had on hand.

I screwed my DIY farmhouse style window treatment directly into the studs of my wall. I love that these hook curtain hangers offer a place to hang embellishments such as plants or seasonal decor.
