It’s a huge upgrade from what we had in our old small apartment, and other than the fact that it doesn’t have an alarm that sounds whenever one of my kids returns a box of cereal or crackers without closing the top first, I’ve had no regrets about its design. This well-ordered pantry was a finalist in Remodelista’s Considered Design Awards this year in the Best Kitchen Organization category. Its lucky owner is photographer and creative director Delbarr Moradi, and its designer is Megan Bachmann. Above: Open shelving means she can easily locate what she needs; her grains, pastas, and baking essentials are all stored in attractive airtight glass jars.

Some people have a second fridge in the basement or garage. Moradi has one in her pantry—a much more accessible location—next to the kitchen and keeps it stocked with beverages.
